United Airlines and the Yellowstone Regional Airport in Cody announced this month that they plan to start a new once-weekly direct flight between Cody and Chicago running from June to September.
The airport also announced an additional flight between Cody and Denver, which now means there are four daily departures and four arrivals each day.
The Cody Enterprise reports that Yellowstone Regional Airport had its third best year ever, with 77,400 passengers in 2018. It was the third year in a row the airport has topped the 70,000 passenger mark. Despite the successful year, passenger arrivals were down about 560 compared to 2017.
Some analysts attribute the 2017 solar eclipse to the extra 2017 traffic.
Cody operates the third busiest airport in Wyoming behind Jackson Hole and Casper.
