    Riverton Police Sergeant Scott Komrs honored at City Council meeting

    An emotional Riverton Police Department Chief, Eric Murphy, held back tears honoring the man he called his, “best friend” Tuesday night.

    Sergeant Scott Komrs announced his retirement from law enforcement earlier this year and was presented with a large plaque for his year’s of service Tuesday night at the Riverton City Council meeting. Komrs received a standing ovation from Mayor Richard Gard, the City Council, and those in attendance.

    Komrs began his Fremont County law enforcement career 30 years ago with the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office. In 1999, he went to work for the Riverton Police Department.

    Scott worked as a K-9 officer, a Field Training Officer, a Detective, a Taser Instructor, an Active Shooter Instructor, the team leader for the Special Reaction Team and was promoted to RPD Sergeant in 2005.
