Wyoming Highway Patrol Lieutenant Travis Hauser received the ‘Lifesaving Award for Professional Responders’ today, November 12th. This is the highest award from the American Red Cross and the first one awarded in Wyoming.
Lt. Hauser is recognized for his life-saving actions while patrolling WY-132 on July 16th, 2019. Passersby were stopped alongside the highway assisting an unresponsive woman. Lt. Hauser took over the primary role of CPR, assisted by other passersby until she began breathing on her own. Paramedics arrived and transported her to the hospital where she made a full recovery and was later released.
This award is presented to those who save or sustains life by using skills and knowledge learned in a Red Cross training services course, American Red Cross Executive Director Jan Daugaard shared while presenting the award to Lt. Hauser. “This action exemplifies the highest degree of concern of one human being for another who is in distress.”
356 Lifesaving Awards have been presented this year and 161 lives saved, American Red Cross Strategic Account Executive Linda Krikorian shared during the presentation. Over 20,000 people were trained in lifesaving skills by the American Red Cross in the State of Wyoming last year including WHP.
