    48-year-old Fremont County resident facing two counts

    All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

    Steven Amos, 48, of Fremont County, is facing two counts failure to comply with sex offender registration requirements.

    The charges are related to a report filed on July 30th, 2019. Amos waived his preliminary hearing on August 14th, 2019. The case is now being transferred to District Court for arraignment.

    Court documents describe Amos being past due for his weekly check-in. Amos is allegedly required to check-in with the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office on a weekly basis while he has a transient status. At his last check-in prior to the report, Amos shared he began new employment. It was later confirmed Amos no longer worked for that employer as of July 23rd, 2019 and failed to notify the FCSO within the required three working days for convicted sex offenders.

    Amos is being charged with:

    • Two counts failure to comply with sex offender registration requirements (felony) has a maximum penalty of imprisonment for not more than 5 years, a fine of not more than $1,000 or both.
