FREMONT COUNTY, WY—Most people have lower levels of vitamin D—also known as the sunshine vitamin—in the winter months. But that’s not what you’ll find here in sunny Wind River Country.
Blessed with an unfair share of sun-kissed afternoons and deep blue for over 300 days annually, Wind River Country is perhaps a surprising winter destination for sun lovers from around the world. The attached January and February Events Flyer has some of our favorite ways to get your sun (and snow) fix.
Our vast outdoor playground offers private tours to visit huge herds of bighorn sheep courtesy of the National Bighorn Sheep Center. Spotting scopes and binoculars are provided for up to six people at a time on intimate wildlife viewing adventures. Dress warm and bring your camera and sunscreen for this once-in-a-lifetime bighorn sheep show!

Your inner athlete will delight at our Winter Rendezvous Games in Riverton Feb. 1. Join a local team or just cheer others on in a tug-of-war, sled races, and a real snowball fight at the Riverton City Park.
If you’re looking for a little unstructured sunshine time, head out to the cross-country or fat-bike trails, groomed all across Wind River Country. Top-notch gear rentals await to outfit you in Lander, Riverton and Dubois. They also have all the inside knowledge on the best trails in their backyards!
