    “Castle Gardens Trek” July 27 9am

    The Riverton Museum is hosting a Wind River Visitors Council Adventure Trek to Visit the amazing petroglyphs at Castle Gardens on July 28th at 9am.

    Reservations are required and can be made by calling the museum at 307-856-2665.

    The trek will begin at the Riverton Museum and transportation will be provided to the site. $8.00 per person.

  • Parkinson's Support Group

    The Fremont County Parkinson's Support group meets at 2 p.m. on the first Thursday of every month at the Lander Senior Center. This group is open to everyone with an interest in Parkinson's, including caregivers. Experts often speak with the group. It offers an opportunity for people to exchange ideas for living a better life. A Parkinson's Exercise Group meets at 1 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Lander Senior Center.There is also a library of Parkinson's DVDs and pamphlets at the Senior Center, which can be taken or checked out. For more information, contact the Lander Senior Center at 332-2746 or Marjane Ambler at 332-3732. For information about a Riverton group, call the Riverton Senior Center.

    “Historic Ed Young Apple Farm Trek” August 17 1pm

    This Wind River Visitors Council Adventure Trek explores one of the largest and oldest orchards in the valley. Ed Young got Lander designated as the “Apple City” and is one of the true pioneers in the Lander Valley.

    Participants will meet at the Pioneer Museum and Lander and take a bus to the ranch.

    Pre-registration is required by contacting the Pioneer Museum in Lander at 307-332-3339. $8.00 per person. Maximum 25 people.

    “Annual Mystery Sheep Trap Trek” August 20 9:00-4pm

    The Dubois Museum in conjunction with the National Bighorn Sheep Center collaborate every year to bring visitors on an educational hike to an area sheep trap. With over 8 sheep trap sites to choose from, the mystery location won’t be known until we’re on the road! During this trek participants will learn about the Mountain Shoshone people who built and used these traps as well as why the traps worked and other key facts about bighorn sheep. Steep climbs and gorgeous scenery guaranteed!

    Transportation will be provided and reservations are required. $8.00 per person. Advanced registration is required by calling the Dubois Museum at 307-455-2284.

    This program is part of the Wind River Visitors Council Adventure Trek Series.

    Museum Staff will lead this Bailey Tire/Pit Stop Children’s Exploration program on August 21st at 10am.

    Mountains, valleys, rivers, Oh My! Dubois Museum staff will show you how the horizons formed in the Upper Wind River Valley. In the process, you will get the chance to create your own Upper Wind River Valley in the Augmented Reality Sandbox the Museum has on exhibit.

    This program is free and open to children of all ages.
