On Wednesday, May 29th at 6:42 a.m. the Riverton Fire Department and Riverton Police Department were dispatched to the 600 block of S. 6th Street East for a report of a vehicle on fire.
After responding, RPD located a woman that was believed to be the driver of the vehicle attempting to flee the area.
After an interview and investigation, RPD arrested the 33-year-old woman identified as Toniette Manguia, for driving under the influence.
According to a report from the Gillette News-Record, Manguia said that she began to smell gasoline and see sparks coming from her vehicle, so she stopped in the middle of the street and exited the vehicle. RPD Captain Todd Byerly told the Gillette News-Record that Toniette told authorities she left her vehicle because “she had other things to do.”
