    RHS Speech and Debate takes top spot again in Worland competition

    The Riverton High School Speech & Debate team did it again this past weekend at the Worland High School “Worlando Beach 2019”  tournament. In addition to claiming the 3A First Place and First Place overall, the team had an impressive showing from several of its team members.

    Jalon Tyndall placed 2nd in Congressional Debate, 6th in Impromptu Interpretation and tied for 3rd place in Cross Examination Debate with partner Elizabeth Pierson. Hunter DeVries took 2nd place in Duo Interpretive with partner Abby Lipson who broke to semifinals in Humor Interpretation and Dramatic Interpretation.

    Joseph Thornton claimed 1st in Dramatic Interpretation and 1st in Poetic Interpretation and 4th place in Duo Interpretation with partner Savana Whitehurst. Shannon Kreitzer made it to semifinals in Humorous Interpretation. Kaia Tippets broke to semifinals in Poetic Interpretation. Perlene Keller tied for 3rd place in Cross Examination Debate with partner Veronica Acosta. Keller also took 5th place in Extemporaneous Speaking, 5th in Informative Speaking, and semifinals in Impromptu Speaking.

    Carolyn Thornton placed 6th in Program Oral Interpretation and 2nd in Humor Interpretation. Elizabeth Pierson broke to semifinals in Poetic Interpretation and took 6th place in Oratory. Savana Whitehurst placed 4th in Humor Interpretation, 2nd in Dramatic Interpretation and 1st in Impromptu Speaking. She also won an Amazon Kindle for garnering the most individual points at the tournament.

    RHS will be hosting the State Tournament March 7th, 8th & 9th and your RHS coaches are asking for the communities help. Please email if you are able to help judge.
