Lander City Council approves liquor license for existing restaurant; Also agrees to award new bar and grill license for hopeful restaurant

The first two items discussed at last night’s Lander City Council meeting were about restaurants.

After a short discussion, council members approved a liquor license request to Joy’s House Chinese Restaurant and to award a bar and grill license to the Hitching Rack.

Lander Assistant Mayor RaJean Strube Fossen explained to County 10, that a bar and grill license is different than a standard restaurant license, “Lander is unlimited on the number of restaurant licenses but we are only allowed 2 bar and grill based on our population” she said.

Details on the Hitching Rack could not be confirmed at this time, but it appears to be the same restaurant formerly known as the Hitching Rack on East Main Street. The Hitching Rack restaurant opened in 1979, but closed on January 1st, 2017.  An attempted call to the business was disconnected, as no phone number has been set up yet.

Joy’s House Chinese Restaurant announced via their Facebook page in July, they had hoped to receive an alcohol permit. They are located on Lincoln Street.
