According to a graph released from the National Weather Service office in Riverton Wednesday, the average snowfall totals in Lander are highest in the spring months.
April has the highest average snowfall total at 16.8 inches. March is not far behind at 16.1 inches.
November, December, and February also average double-digit snowfall totals.
Oddly, data shows a slight decrease in moisture for January.
The numbers vary by geographic region across Wyoming. The graphic below shows that Casper’s heaviest snowfall month is also April, but a close second in December. Rock Springs has nearly equal snowfall totals between November and April, while the Jackson area has a significant amount in December and January.
