Natrona County District Judge Kerri Johnson sentenced 28-year-old Casper man James Sanders Tuesday after he pleaded guilty to three counts of child abuse.
In 2018 Sanders admitted to sexually abusing a 13-year-old girl. His sentence for that crime alone was 12-20 years of imprisonment. On Tuesday, Sanders also admitted to physically abusing three other children.
According to a Casper Star-Tribune report, District Attorney Dan Itzen told the judge this week that nearly two years ago Sanders had abused a 2-week-old boy. The boy, now 2-years-old, lives with “limited-or-no” eyesight, irreversible brain damage, and frequent seizures as a result of the abuse. He’s also accused of throwing a 2-year-old girl against a wall, and abusing a 10-year-old boy.
After Sanders pleaded guilty to abusing the three other children, Judge Johnson sentenced him to another 18-28 years in prison. Sanders now faces up to 48 years in prison.
