Court documents describe Persson allegedly entering a vehicle in the Safeway parking lot and taking a purse from the vehicle. It is also reported, Perrson withdrew $300 from an ATM with a debit card found in the purse and he attempted to make a purchase at Ace Hardware with the debit card. That transaction declined.

Lander Police Department reviewed video surveillance from Safeway, Ace Hardware and the ATM. On May 13th, 2019, Persson was stopped because he matched the description of the suspect seen in the videos. Persson initially denied taking anything according to court documents. He then gave a full confession about “his actions” the day before.

    Persson is being charged with:

    • One count burglary (felony) – has a maximum penalty of imprisonment for not more than 10 years, a fine of not more than $10,000 or both.
