Court documents describe a violent physical assault in which Lopez pulled the victim to the ground, choked the victim twice and punched her. The victim reported not being able to breathe as a result of the choking.

During an examination at a hospital, it was found the victim had contusions along her back, arm, and elbow. Soft tissue injuries along her neckline and throat “consistent with force being applied to the throat during choking.”

    Lopez is being charged with:

    • Two counts strangulation of a household member (felony) has a maximum penalty of imprisonment for not more than 10 years, a fine of not more than $10,000 or both.
