The City of Riverton shared on their Facebook page today, January 7th, that there are multiple vacancies for several committees.
Letters of interest for the following committees are being accepted until 5:00 pm on Wednesday, January 15th, 2020:
Tree Board (2 vacancies) – Helps determine tree conditions and create a full tree inventory in the city. The board is also responsible for the yearly Arbor Day/Armed Forces celebration.
Planning Commission (1 vacancy) – Serves a dual function as the Board of Adjustment. The Board of Adjustment has final approval for Conditional Use Permits, Variances, and Home Occupations. For zone changes, annexations, plats, and re-plats, the Planning Commission reviews and makes recommendations to the City Council, which has final approval authority.
Community Engagement Committee (1 vacancy) – Seeks opportunities to improve the City of Riverton by increasing community involvement, coordinating desirable community activities, maximizing public spaces, and developing community partnerships. This committee’s goals are to enhance the image and beautification of the City of Riverton through the promotion of arts and events.

Fix Our Roads Citizens Committee (1 vacancy) – The purpose of the FORCC (Fix Our Roads Citizens Committee) committee is to evaluate the capital improvement needs for the streets within the City of Riverton, prioritize and make recommendations to the City Council for expenditure of funds from the general use excise tax authorized by the voters (1% tax funds).
Airport Board (1 vacancy & 2 term expiration) – Makes recommendations to the City Council on any updates or changes that would affect the Riverton Airport. If the committee votes for changes or updates, their recommendations are taken before City Council for approval.
All committees shall serve as an advisory committee to the City Council and shall conform to established policies, resolutions, ordinances, and laws of the City of Riverton.
