#Activate10: Help the Lander Pipe Band raise funds for their youth education program, get to the 2025 World Championships in Scotland

“Our community is large and wildly diverse, which is at the same time our strength and our weakness. #Activate10 is a movement seeking to increase communication between individuals and organizations across Fremont County and to promote positive action in our communities.”

(Lander, WY) – Fans/supporters of the Lander Pipe Band currently have the opportunity to help the band in multiple ways.

The band has several new youth band members and they are currently fundraising for their Youth Education Program, which began after the tragic passing of band member and pipe enthusiast Nixon David in 2021, and also led to the formation of the Nixon David Memorial Scholarship.

Additionally, the band was invited to the World Pipe Band Championships in 2025, which are held annually in Glasgow, Scotland.

They were invited to the Championships along with the Upland Pipe Band (from Upland, CA), for a combined youth band called “The Uplanders.”

To help the Lander Pipe Band make it to the Championships and to donate to their youth program, click here, or head over to the 4th of July Parade in Lander this Thursday where members will be providing QR codes.

Band instructor Melissa Bautz and her son Henry, a youth drummer in the band on his way into his freshman year at LVHS, also recently stopped by the KOVE 1330 AM / 107.7 FM Today in the 10 interview series Coffee Time to provide even more info, which you can listen to in full below.

(The Lander Pipe Band also wanted supporters to know that the $5,000 that was raised to help the band get to the Normandy, France memorial parade they were invited to was ultimately used to purchase, uniforms, instruments and lessons. “We raised $5k in four months but that was not enough to make the commitment,” Bautz told County 10. “The band is grateful for all the donations people made toward the 2025 Normandy event.”)
