A headdress that belonged to Northern Arapaho Chief Black Coal will be unveiled for public viewing at 3 p.m. Thursday, June 27, in the Spring Mountain Room at the Wind River Hotel and Casino.
The event will include information about Black Coal’s life and the story of “how we acquired the headdress and our journey to get it,” Northern Arapaho Tribal Historic Preservation Office Deputy Director Crystal C’Bearing said this week.
Dinner and refreshments will be available at the event, which will also feature a “captivating drum and dance performance,” according to an event flyer.

The headdress showcase will be part of an exhibit that will be up for several months, C’Bearing said.
She asked that people refrain from taking flash photos of the headdress.
