    Lander Legends drop two close games against undefeated Green River

    (Lander, WY) – The Lander Legion C team dropped two close games against an undefeated Green River C team on Tuesday, June 25.

    The Legends came out strong in game one and had a lead going into the sixth inning. Green River came back and tied it in the bottom of the six and eventually won the game in the bottom of the seventh with a walk-off hit. The final score was 6-7. Lander lost despite out-hitting Green River 15-14. Grady Eagle led Lander with three hits.

    Lander came out strong in game two and had Green River down 10 – 5 in the sixth inning, but a tough inning allowed Green River to plate eight runs and take the lead. Green River closed the game out for the win and the top of the seventh inning. The Legends amassed 10 hits in the game. William Winn and William Oland were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for the Legends while hitting back-to-back. Winn seized on opportunities, leading the team with three runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. The left fielder went 2-for-4 on the day. Isaac Oland stole two bases. The Legends didn’t commit a single error in the field. The final score was 10-13.

    Coach Brian Oland is proud of how the team is playing. “We are a very strong team. We hit it really well, we’re just not quite able to finish the close games yet, but I have a lot of faith in these kids and I think we’re going to finish the season strong.”

    Next up, the Legends take on Jackson for more conference games at home on Thursday at Lander City Park, 2 PM and 4 PM. Come cheer on your local baseball youth!
