June 15 drowning at Trail Lake near Dubois ruled accidental, Coroner reports

(Fremont County, WY) – 20-year-old Trenton Boland reportedly died from freshwater drowning at Trail Lake, located east of Dubois, on June 15, according to the public docket report released by the Fremont County Coroner’s Office on June 27.

    The death was ruled accidental.

In the June 17 Fremont County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) call log, there was a reported search and rescue call made at 8:29 PM on June 15, but all other information in that call was redacted. In that same call log, a “welfare check” to the Coroner call was also made at the same time, but all other information in that call was redacted.

At the time, County 10 put in the request for the Coroner’s Public Docket report that was just made available today, at which point FCSO Undersheriff Mike Hutchison also provided further details on the incident.

Hutchison confirmed that the initial call was from Boland’s family, letting law enforcement know that he had been fishing in that area and was “overdue” for his return.

Hutchison went on to state that Boland’s body was ultimately found in a somewhat difficult-to-access outlet stream off of Trail Lake, which necessitated the call for search and rescue assistance to help the Coroner recover the body.

As stated above, Boland’s death was ruled accidental, and there was no relevant toxicology shared in the docket report.
