Ruby Faye Posey, age 68, of Fort Washakie passed away on June 28th, 2024 at Sagewest Hospital in Lander. A wake will be held on July 2nd, 2024 at 6 pm at 207 Trout Creek Rd at her son Dennis Posey’s residence. Sunrise services will follow on July 3rd, 2024 at the same location. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on July 3rd, 2024 at the Rocky Mountain Hall.
Ruby Faye Posey was born to Ernest L. Posey Jr. and Rose Redcherries Posey on March 24th 1956 in Thermopolis, Wyoming. She was one of thirteen children. She is a direct descendent of Chief Little Wolf and Chief Wild Hog. She attended Chilocco Indian School and graduated in 1974 where she was the Senior Class President. She played basketball at Haskell Indian Nations University, in Kansas, graduating in 1976. She has many friends throughout Indian country.
In her early years, she enjoyed traveling, playing softball and basketball, going to concerts, meeting new people, and making lifelong friends. She greeted everyone with a smile and a hug. She was known for her grandmotherly role in the community which she embraced as a custodian at Fort Washakie School. The students loved her daily hugs. She had also worked at Eastern Shoshone Housing, Morning Star Manor, and was a BIA Firefighter. Although she gave the best hugs, she was tough and an extremely hard worker. She loved her grandchildren very much, including family gatherings. Family was important to her and she was always reliable.
She is survived by her son Dennis (Susie) Posey, Sisters Rose Siers, Pauline Posey, Jamie Sorrels, Shasta Isis, Rena Brown, Robyn Rofkar, Tina Makeshine, Rose Dillard of Ashland, MT, Ernestine Littletree of Kirtland, NM, and Annie Runabove both of Lame Deer, MT, Kathy Carlson of Lawton, OK, and Ardeth Wheeler of Miami, FL. Brothers Myron (Cheryl) Littlebird, Ernest Posey III, Ivan Posey, Daniel Chavez, Thorton Chavez, Webb Runsabove, and Merlin Redcherries. Aunts Virginia Ferris, Margaret Runsabove, Della Tallbull, Katie Belle McAdams, Bernice Posey, and Georgetta Crispin, Emily Niedo, Judy Large, Joy Ortegon, and Helen Baker. Uncle Terry Enos. Nephews Joey Littlebird, Bender Nakota, Justin Revere, William Posey, Daniel Antelope, Roger Dillard, Ernest Siers, Toni Siers, Alex Posey, Tess Posey, Kenny Littletree, Shawn Littletree, Tony Posey, Walter Runsabove, Mark Engavo, and Daniel Shawn Posey. Grandchildren Devlynn Appeney, Michael Posey, Nolia Lujan, Donovan Posey, Kashton Posey, Antone Lincoln Posey, Atticus Hereford, & Lovely Morning Skye Posey.
