Yellowstone National Park’s Lone Star Fire increases to 1,500 acres

The lightning-started Lone Star Fire continues to burn south of Old Faithful in Yellowstone National Park. The fire was first ignited on August 22nd.

The Grand Loop Road between Old Faithful and West Thumb was open on Sunday, but had been closed Saturday due to dense smoke. Yellowstone officials warn that road may close at any time due to fire conditions.

Currently, trails and campsites in the Shoshone Lake and Lone Star Geyser area are closed.
