Powder River Rodeo, LLC, received the 2019 Polaris Ranger Remuda Award for providing “the best, most consistent pen of bucking horses,” according to the PRCA. This Riverton-based stock contractor was also in the top five nominees for the ninth time as a PRCA Stock Contractor of the Year.
Hank and Lori Franzen started the business when they were in their twenties, and it has remained family-owned and operated ever since. “We’ve worked really hard in this family business for the past 35 years and are very proud it is family-owned,” Lori explained.
There are about 90 stock contractors in the U.S. and Canada, and this is the number one award in the nation for them. “It gives you such wonderful feeling that all your hard work has finally paid off,” shared Lori.
A few of their horses have received several recognitions over the years. Craig at Midnight was the 2016 PRCA Bareback Horse of the Year. Miss Congeniality is a two-time Saddle Bronc Horse of the Year. Khadafy Skoal is a three-time Bareback Horse of the Year and the 2012 Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame Inductee.
Along with the businesses’ accomplishments in the PRCA, Hank and Lori’s daughter Jill Franzen-Loden is a reigning PRCA Music Director and was in the top five again this year for PRCA Music Director of the Year.
