The Gillette News Record is reporting that a 40-year-old Wyoming man is reporting he lost nearly $400,000 in an online dating scam.
Gillette Police say the man had met the woman through an internet dating website.
They communicated for five years, but had never personally met.
The woman allegedly told the Gillette man that she had cancer and needed help with medical bills. He sent her over $388,000 in March, and says he then immediately stopped hearing from her.
Gillette Police say they are investigating, but that the money is likely unrecoverable.
