Wyoming man loses hunting privileges for illegal deer kill

A 42-year-old Campbell County man, Eric Sorensen, has lost his hunting privileges for two years after using a rifle to kill a buck mule deer during the archery-only season according to the Gillette News-Record.

The Wyoming Game and Fish Department has also ordered Sorensen to pay $4,000 in restitution and a $615 fine for the September 2018 violation.

A North Gillette game warden became aware of the incident after hunters reporting hearing gunshots near private land.

Sorensen initially denied taking the deer with a firearm, but later admitted to the action. Documents show that he claimed to shoot it from the road and dumped the carcass without harvesting any of the meat.
