The Wyoming Business Council Board of Directors will consider one Business Ready Community (BRC) funding request during its May 16 meeting beginning at 8 a.m. in the Taggarts Room at the Holiday Inn Riverton, 900 E. Sunset Dr.
The Business Council Board and staff will also continue discussing recent strategic planning efforts and review next steps, and the Board is slated to hear updates on the Business Resource Network, Innovation Centers and the Beef Study Request for Proposal. The Board will consider and take action on staff recommendations for several internal initiatives, as well as amendments to the Wyoming Broadband Enhancement Plan and Administrative Rules recommended by the Broadband Advisory Council.

BUSINESS READY COMMUNITY (BRC) GRANT APPLICATIONS
Business Council staff review each application, conduct site visits, or conference calls in the case of planning grants, and make presentations to a board subcommittee before making final recommendations to the full board.
About the Program: The Wyoming Business Council administers the Business Ready Community grant and loan program, which provides financing for publicly owned infrastructure that serves the needs of businesses and promotes economic development within Wyoming communities.
The Business Council board is required by statute to forward BRC grant and loan recommendations to the State Loan and Investment Board (SLIB) for final approval. The SLIB is comprised of the five statewide elected officials: the governor, secretary of state, state auditor, state treasurer and state superintendent of public instruction.
The SLIB will make final decisions on BRC project requests at its 8 a.m. meeting on June 20.
Community Development – Enhancement
- City of Sundance requests a $484,000 grant to develop a central park on the former Crook County School District Administration building site located adjacent to the Old Stoney building in Sundance. The Administration building was demolished with funds from the Legislature, and the reclaimed four-block area would include a historic walking path, playground, water feature, landscaping and covered stage area. (Staff does not recommend funding.)
