WRTA offers transport to/from the University of Wyoming for Thanksgiving

(Riverton, WY) – The Wind River Transportation Authority announced on October 6th that they will provide a Thanksgiving bus to/from the University of Wyoming for public safety in the fall of 2021.

The bus will depart the University of Wyoming Union at noon on Tuesday, November 23rd, and then stop at City Market in Rawlins, WYDOT in Lander, and WYDOT in Riverton.

Any students are welcome to use this service if this helps them travel safely. While this service is targeted at Fremont County, students from other areas of Wyoming are welcome to use the bus as well.

For example, a student from Rock Springs could meet parents for pick up in Rawlins, or a student from Jackson could meet parents for pick up in Lander.

There is no cost for the bus, however, riders must call WRTA at 307-856-7118 to reserve a seat.

The bus will return to the University of Wyoming on Sunday, November 28th. It will pick up students at WYDOT in Riverton at 8 am, then travel to Lander WYDOT to pick up students. It is estimated the bus will be at the Rawlins City Market at 11 am.

“The WRTA decided to provide the bus in response to several severe automobile accidents involving students during Thanksgiving trips,” they shared in their announcement. “It is our pleasure to provide this needed service to the public.”
