WRHC expands its Northern Arapaho Experience Cultural Room
The Northern Arapaho Experience Cultural Room tells the story of the Arapaho people though paintings, pictures, videos and traditional artifacts.
In the coming months, three cases will be installed into the second gallery space of the experience room to house their growing collection. Each case will meet current museum standards to ensure the safety of the items housed within each space.
While beautiful, wood is acidic and will cause the items to break down. Therefore, the cases will feature glass shelves. Lighting is also a factor since the heat emitted from the bulbs can be harmful. LED and fiber optic lighting will be used as it emits the lowest amount of heat.
The Wind River Hotel & Casino looks forward to installing the new cases and being about to provide more space to display items that tell the story of the Northern Arapaho Experience.
Their most recent exhibit
The Experience Room recently installed a new exhibit that tells Arapaho stories through augmented reality. Jackson Hole WILD collaborated with students from the 21st Century Learning Center at Arapahoe School to create this unique storytelling project.
Using an iPad and an image, the installation tells the origin story of the Milky Way. In the future, the students will be creating additional stories that will be uploaded onto the iPad.
Visit the Experience Room today and witness the future of storytelling.
