A 53-year-old woman died Wednesday in a 2-vehicle accident on Highway 789, near mile post 101, which is approximately 1 mile south of the Wind River Casino.
The Wyoming Highway Patrol confirmed that Bonnie Ainsworth was fatally injured after the vehicle she was riding in rear-ended a Dodge Durango SUV. The SUV was apparently stopped, waiting to make a left turn.
WHP is reporting that Ainsworth was riding in the back of the vehicle, and not wearing a seatbelt. She was pronounced dead at SageWest hospital in Lander.
Two other passengers in the car were transported to Riverton SageWest, but the extent of their injuries has not been released.
Driver inattention may have contributed to the accident. There have been 65 fatalities so far in 2018 on Wyoming highways.
