The deceased has been identified as the passenger of the vehicle, 64-year-old Utah resident Amy Castillo.

Castillo then exited the vehicle and attempted to move it out of the roadway with other motorists.

Another vehicle driving toward the scene of the accident was unable to see the stopped vehicle in the roadway, due to headlights not being in use.

Castillo was standing on the driver’s side of the stopped vehicle when the oncoming driver corrected to the right in an attempt to avoid collision.

The oncoming driver impacted the front corner of the stopped vehicle, at which point Castillo was struck.

The report indicates there were no other injuries, and driver inattention is being looked into as a possible contributing factor.

To date, there have been 99 fatalities on Wyoming’s roadways in 2021, compared to 118 in 2020, 136 in 2019, and 105 in 2018.
