A 32-year-old Riverton woman, Patsy Burbeck, attempted to flee on foot after a Lander Police Department officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop Thursday night at 8:58 p.m., leaving behind a 4-year-old child in the vehicle.
Lander Police Department Public Information Officer Duane Kaiser told County 10 that the vehicle was being stopped for displaying fictitious license plates. “At first, she stopped” he said. “As the officer approached on foot to contact her, she took off.”
Kaiser said the pursuit went for about 7 blocks, ending in the 600 block of South 3rd Street. Burbeck attempted to hide in a bush, then proceeded to roll herself under a horse trailer, where LPD located her and arrested her.
“The suspect was aware of a warrant out of Colorado, that’s why she fled,” Kaiser said.
Kaiser also confirmed the child was not injured and released to a family member.
Ultimately, Burbeck was charged with the warrant, driving under the influence with a passenger child, use of methamphetamine, reckless driving, child endangerment, no registration, no insurance, driving under suspension, property destruction, and no child car seat.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
