Winter storm cleanup continues in Fremont County

A Labor Day winter storm blanketed much of Wyoming in snow and in one area category 1 hurricane-level wind was recorded. Like most Wyomingites, Fremont County residents are now left cleaning up the aftermath.

The storm caused many residents to lose power, damaged property, stranded by closed roads, and more. Local law enforcement, along with search and rescue have spent countless hours yesterday and today rescuing folks in remote areas of the county.

Folks can still be seen hauling truck and trailer loads of tree debris to the landfills, some streets in Lander have huge piles of branches, and in some areas, residents finally had their power restored today.

Current closures include: Lander’s City Park remains closed due to unsafe tree damage, as well as the neighboring Parks and Rec building.
