    Wind River ladies finish 2nd at State Track; Fremont County individuals shine

    The 2018-2019 Wyoming high school sports season is in the history books after the conclusion of state soccer and state track and field last weekend.

    The annual track meet was held at Casper’s Kelly Walsh High School and some Fremont County athletes performed very well.

    Rheannon Hawk – Dubois, Pole Vault

    Mindy Russell – Wind River, 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, 400-meter dash, Larissa McElroy – Wyoming Indian 3200 meter run

    Lue Herbert – Wind River, 300-meter run
    Wind River’s 4X400 meter relay team: – Savannah Arneach, Lue Herbert, Abby Philleo, Mindy Russell

    2A Boys:

    Shoshoni boys 4X800 meter relay team: Kade Fike, James Knigge, Braeden Cash, Justin LaJeunnesse

    3A Girls: 

    100 meter hurdles Lander, Madison Chance

    Boys 1600 meter run Lander, Sam Kistemann
    Boys 3200 Lander, Kaleb Simmons

    4A Girls: 

    Naya Shime 100 meter hurdles

    Fremont County’s top team finisher was the Wind River ladies Cougars who took 2nd in class 2A, behind only Pine Bluffs. Kemmerer finished third, Wyoming Indians ladies came up 9th and Shoshoni 14th.

    In 2A boys, Big Horn won the championship followed by Glenrock and Rocky Mountain. The Shoshoni boys finished 7th, Wind River 10th, and Wyoming Indian 13th.

    1A girls saw Cokeville win a championship with Ten Sleep coming in 2nd and Lingle-Ft. Laramie 3rd. The Dubois ladies took 9th. In 1A boys, Upton won the championship, Burlington and Cokeville were second and third. Dubois took 15th and St. Stephens cam up 18th.

    In class 3A girls the Lander ladies finished 5th overall. Douglas won the team championship, Powell was 2nd, and Pinedale 3rd. The Lander boys took 4th overall, Mountain View won the 3A championship followed by Buffalo and Powell.

    In class 4A, the Riverton ladies took 10th overall. Cheyenne Central won the event, Laramie finished 2nd, and Rock Springs was 3rd. The Riverton boys claimed 13th overall, while Kelly Walsh won the boys championship, Sheridan was 2nd and Star Valley 3rd.
