Wind River Family and Community Healthcare’s new merger is creating positive growth on the Wind River Indian Reservation. The merger has created a variety of great programs and services and increased staff by approximately 70 new team members!
Below is an overview of some of the new programs and services:
The Northern Arapaho Diabetes Program has expanded diabetes education and prevention services.
There is an on-site dietician at the Arapaho Clinic providing information on what eating healthy means for you and how it can be done while saving money and time.
With Fitness Centers in Arapaho and Ethete, classes are offered to promote physical activity. They are open late, clean, and the friendly staff make your workout goals easier to achieve.
Community outreach on diabetic awareness is also increased by making a presence at local events.
Tribal Health Program
The CHR program is now a part of the Transportation Department of Wind River Family and Community Healthcare. Transportation services are available for appointments made in advance. However, out-of-state transportation services are currently on hold. You can request transportation for your next appointment by calling 307.856.9281 ext. 331.
The Environmental Health Office is located at 643 Blue Sky Hwy and can be reached by calling 307.332.6836. Services provided by the Environmental Health Office include environmental health service and emergency preparedness to name a few.
White Buffalo Programs
White Buffalo Recovery in the Arapaho Clinic continues to provide services for those needing an ASI, outpatient or intensive outpatient services, transitional housing (availability is limited), inpatient placement arrangements can be made. Services are available to adults and adolescents. Recovery support is open to anyone in the community.
White Buffalo Wellness Program is located at the 789 Casino and Smoke Shop. Services include individual counseling, basic alcohol and drug education, substance abuse evaluations, relapse prevention, Prime for Life DUI classes, 12 Step Medicine Wheel teachings, Mending Broken Heart classes, WellBriety, 12 step recovery support, and monthly recovery speaker events. White Buffalo Youth Program currently hosts events within the community to bring awareness to suicide prevention and tobacco prevention. Staff are active within the school systems to help tribal youth participate in healthy activities to better themselves. The Youth Program has been very active in teaching traditional practices that include instruction from respected tribal leaders.
Wind River Children’s Home
The Wind River Children’s Home is a private facility where tribal children are placed through the Northern Arapaho Child Protection Services. They are cared for while awaiting placement.
Our new clinic in Riverton is located at 511 N 12th E and is open to patients. We will be offering evening and weekend hours in the near future. Our expanded clinic in Ethete, located at 510 Ethete Road, is open and seeing patients. Call 307.856.9281 ext. 501 to make an appointment.
