    Wilma Lou Weed Spoonhunter

    Wilma Lou Weed Spoonhunter “ Dahka Wimah (Falling Snow)” danced her way to the Spirit World on Friday, July 5, 2019 at the age of 64 years old in Riverton, Wyoming.

    She enjoyed helping her people and was employed with the Eastern Shoshone Tribal Credit Program for the past 31 years. She was also employed with the Wind River Housing Authority and Warm Valley Arts and Crafts in Fort Washakie. Wilma was also employed with the Billings Area Office in the Realty Department. She graduated from Lander Valley High School in 1973. She received her Certificate in BookKeeping from Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institution in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1976.

    Wilma was a member of the Wind River Dancers where she participated as a traditional dancer at the Cheyenne Frontier Days, Teton Science School, Fort Laramie, and numerous locations throughout Wyoming and the United States. She was a barrel racer and participated in rodeos. Wilma was a fluent speaker in the Shoshone Language. She participated in various ceremonies and was a strong believer in her native american ways and her faith. She was also a member of the Yellow Band and Sheep Eater Clans. Wilma was a member of the Episcopal Church and the Native American Church. She was a strong advocate for elders and the youth. She was a former member of the Jr. Auxiliary and Auxiliary for Richard Pogue Post 81 and Fort Washakie 4-H Club.

    She was born on December 9, 1954 to Moses Morning Starr Weed, Sr. and Lorraine Priscilla Leonard Weed in Lander, Wyoming. She was married to Harvey T. Spoonhunter for 44 years.

    She is survived by Husband-Harvey T. Spoonhunter, Daughter-Harmony Spoonhunter, Sons-Lamar (Paulita) Spoonhunter and Layha Spoonhunter; Adopted son-Daniel Addison, Ernest Brown, Adam and Izzy Ramirez; Adopted daughter-Vernalyn Bearing, Danera Perkins and adopted many other children as her own;

    Wake Services on Monday, July 8, 2019 at Blue Sky Hall in Ethete, Wyoming at 7pm, followed by the wake she will be taken to her residence at 125 Yellowcalf Road.
    Funeral Services on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at Rocky Mountain Hall in Fort Washakie, Wyoming at 10am. Burial will take place at the Yellowcalf Cemetery in Ethete, Wyoming followed by the feast at Blue Sky Hall.
