    Wildfire season ramping up across the west; Red Flag Warning in place for Fremont County again

    If you’re starting to notice some light haze moving into Fremont County, you’re not alone. Several wildfires are burning across the western United States with more popping up this week.

    There are currently two fires reported in Wyoming. The Clemons Fire has burned nearly 300 acres in Albany County, north of Laramie. It’s listed as 30% contained Friday morning.The Lost Creek Fire has burned nearly 600 acres in the Absaroka Range west of Cody. However, as of Friday morning, that fire is listed at 100% contained.

    Fires are burning in Utah, Colorado, Nevada, California, Arizona, and New Mexico as well.

    Fremont County is once again under a Red Flag Warning according to the National Weather Service office in Riverton. 

    Hot temperatures, low humidity, and gusty winds will accelerate conditions throughout the day and likely into the weekend.

    Campers, smokers, and motorists are all asked to use extreme caution doing any activity that may cause a fire.
