#WhatsHappening: Construction season is underway in Fremont County

(Fremont County, WY) – Spring is upon us which mean construction projects are in full swing.

Between Main Street construction in both Riverton and Lander, as well as the Hill Street project beginning in May, motorists are urged to be on the lookout while driving in these areas. (Details of each project in the links provided.)

According to the Wyoming Department of Transportation, Riverton’s planned construction completion date is Oct. 31, 2021. 2-way traffic will be required on half of the roadway at all times, with intersection closures planned on half of Main Street.

As for Lander, the planned completion time is around mid-July. Project work will require 2-way traffic to be maintained on half of the roadway at all times. There will also be some intersection disruptions and lane closures as well.

WYDOT representative Cody Beers also stated:

“Weather has been a factor. The last two snowstorms have created a lot of mud, but the workers are resilient and are adapting to the typical springtime conditions. So, progress in Riverton and Lander has been slow, but methodical and steady. WYDOT apologizes for the inconvenience.”

Project questions may be directed to WYDOT Resident Engineer Erik Smith, P.E., at (307) 332-4151, or by email at [email protected].
