What’d they say? I can’t hear! Can you hear the speaker? Sound System to be upgraded
(Lander, Wyo.) – Steps are being taken to improve the sound system inside the county commission chambers at the courthouse in Lander. The present system is good at producing feedback and squeals, and it’s hard to operate. The table-top microphones also pickup lots of extra noise.
To rectify the situation, County Buildings Supervisor J.D. Oakleaf said the best way to solve the problem is to get rid of the present set-up and install a new easier to use sound mixer and goose-neck microphones.
Sheriff’s Deputy Phil Holder said he was investigating equipment and found a Notepad 12 FX mixer that is simple to use and that has six microphone inputs.
Oakleaf said the new microphones would not be as bulky as the last set the county had used, and then replaced years ago. “They’re slimmer and smaller, less obtrusive,” he said, “and they come with a mute button.”
Commissioners agreed an update would be desirable and asked the pair to come back with a solid price for the entire package, rather than putting the system together piecemeal.
