LANDER – Recently the Wyoming Game and Fish Department received grants to replace its old sheep-hauling trailer named “Ewe Haul.” The original “Ewe Haul” trailer had been used for decades to transport and transplant bighorn sheep and had deteriorated to the point it needed to be replaced.
Through funding from the Wyoming Chapter of the Wild Sheep Foundation and the Wyoming Governor’s Big Game License Coalition, the trailer was replaced and customized according to specifications developed by Game and Fish and the WY Wild Sheep Foundation.
The new Titan trailer is well built with ample room to transfer 20 – 30 sheep and includes several features that will ensure the safety of the sheep and the people handling them. For example, each section of the trailer (one for ewes and one for rams) has a monitoring camera that can be viewed from the towing vehicle via Bluetooth. The ventilation sections in the upper walls are covered with expanded metal and removable plexiglass windows. The walls and floors are rubberized and, of course, there is ample lighting both inside and out for working in low light conditions.
