    Wednesday rollover crash resulted in first highway fatality of 2022

    (Casper, WY) – On Wednesday, January 12th, a fatal crash occurred around milepost 189 on Interstate 25 north of Casper, according to a release from the Wyoming Highway Patrol (WHP).

    The driver has been identified as 53-year-old Casper resident Brett G. Briscoe.

    At 2:23 p.m., WHP troopers were notified of a one-vehicle rollover.

    Briscoe was headed north on Interstate 25 when his vehicle exited the left side of the roadway.

    Briscoe overcorrected to the right and lost control of the vehicle, at which point it left the right side of the road before overturning.

    Briscoe was not wearing his seatbelt, and was transported to the Wyoming Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries. 

    Driver inattention is being investigated as a potential contributing factor.

    This is the 1st fatality on Wyoming’s roadways in 2022 compared to 7 in 2021, 2 in 2020, and 7 in 2019 to date.
