Wearing a seat belt saved a teen’s life this morning in a single vehicle rollover

(Midvale, Wyo.) – Seat belts save lives. That was a hard lesson earned by a Wind River High School student this morning after she lost control of her pickup on the way to school and rolled it a couple of times on the Eight Mile Road just past Dirt Road. She suffered only minor scrapes and a bump on the head, but will be taken by her father to the doctor for a concussion check.

According to initial reports, a nurse witnessed the crash and was able to assist the teen. Several other motorists also stopped to render aid before the Sheriff’s Deputy and Midvale Fire Battalion Chief Rocky McWilliams arrived.

Shortly after the crash, the driver extricated herself from the seat belt, she said she’s not sure how, she called family and then friends. Several of her friends from school drove to the scene to comfort her and her family arrived. The pickup was totaled as it rolled and landed on the drivers side on top of a fence.
