(Riverton, WY) – A few photos and videos of what appears to be a funnel cloud were shared with County 10 and across social media Friday morning.
We connected with the National Weather Service in Riverton for a few more details about the formation. In reviewing the photos and footage, they agreed it appears to be a cold air funnel cloud which happens when cold air moves in and produces a weak rotation.
The radar imaging did not pick up the morning’s formation which could be due to a very low wind speed, according to the NWSR.
Thank you to Shenah Bartlett for sharing the photos and video!
