Water quality alert issued for the Middle Fork of the Popo Agie

(Lander, WY) – Fremont County Public Health announced today, July 2nd, a water quality alert has been issued for Middle Fork Popo Agie within the City of Lander area. They have reported “unsafe levels of waterborne pathogens.”

They have posted signs and are asking folks to avoid all water contact activities in that area. If you do come in contact with the water, wash your hands and shower as soon as possible.

The water should not be ingested without first boiling for three minutes, filtering or other treatments that will remove pathogens.

Children, pregnant women, and those with weakened immune systems are most at risk.

Symptoms to look for are diarrhea and vomiting. If you or your pets experience those symptoms you should contact your healthcare provider or veterinarian.
