Walmart to limit number of customers in store starting tomorrow

Walmart stores will begin limiting the number of customers allowed in a store at the same time starting tomorrow April 4th, according to an announcement from Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Dacona Smith. County 10 confirmed this includes the Riverton Walmart.

The change is to encourage social distancing while still getting the supplies folks need. “Stores will now allow no more than five customers for each 1,000 square feet at a given time, roughly 20 percent of a store’s capacity,” according to Smith.

While the exact number of customers allowed in the Riverton Walmart at the same time was not precisely known this evening, they did share it is still a significant number.

Along with regulating store entry, the announcement also shares there will be updates to the movement inside the store. “We’ll also institute one-way movement through our aisles next week in a number of our stores, using floor markers and direction from associates. We expect this to help more customers avoid coming into close contact with others as they shop,” said Smith.
