Walgreens, Safeway join the list of businesses requiring customers to wear face coverings

The face-covering requirements for shoppers at Walgreens and Walmart took effect today, July 20th. These are the first to be implemented this week as more chain businesses are mandating the coverings in the coming days.

Safeway’s parent company, Albertson’s, announced “Effective July 21, 2020, we will require customers across all of our locations to wear face coverings when shopping with us, for their protection and for that of our associates.”

Starting on Wednesday, July 22nd, Smith’s shoppers will also be required to wear face coverings while in the store.
