Volunteers spent Saturday sewing for Quilts of Valor

(Hudson, WY) – Saturday, February 5th was National Sew Day for Quilts of Valor and a few local volunteers with the Sheep Camp Quilters spent the day at Hudson Town Hall sewing quilt tops that will eventually be finished and presented to local veterans at a Quilts of Valor ceremony.

Several of the volunteers have been quilting for the organization since the local Quilts of Valor chapter started about 12 years ago.

Volunteer Mary Gookin shared Quilts of Valor is a great organization and the veterans really appreciate the quilt.

The Sheep Camp Quilters consist of about a dozen volunteers who make every quilt by hand. They have been honoring local Veterans in the Lander and Riverton areas and have given out over 1,000 quilts.

Annually, the group raffles a quilt to help pay for supplies and the space to hold the ceremonies. Donations can also be made online to the Sheep Camp Quilters through the QOV Foundation here.

If you are a local Veteran or know one that has not received a quilt, email [email protected].
