Vigil held in Riverton’s City Park for George Floyd last night

A peaceful vigil was held in Riverton’s City Park last night, June 1st, for 46-year-old George Floyd who was killed by Minneapolis Police Officers.

The vigil began at 7:00 pm led by Northern Arapaho Tribal member Micah “Big Wind” Carpenter-Lott. Micah started off with an Arapaho prayer followed by a moment of silence. The evening continued with speakers addressing the growing crowd about racism, and urging the community to stand together against racial injustice.

Following the speakers, around 200 attendees moved to the sidewalk along Federal Boulevard and City Park holding signs in solidarity and calling for justice.

The evening ended with a candlelight vigil back at the City Park Bandshell.
