Verizon’s Take on Cell Coverage During The Eclipse
Coverage of the August 2017 solar eclipse and related events is brought to you by Shoshone Rose Casino and Hotel.
(Fremont County, Wyo.) – Predictions regarding Cellular Coverage during the eclipse remain variable in the last couple of weeks leading up to the eclipse. County 10 reached out to Karen Schulz from Verizon, one of Fremont County’s largest cellular service providers to get the scoop on their plans to address the influx of network users over the weekend of the eclipse.
“As for the eclipse, it’s important to keep in mind this is a once in a lifetime occurrence that spans across the entire nation and is not a normal network day. Over the last few years, advancements in our network and a focus on building permanent solutions have made the deployment of temporary network assets such as COWS and COLTS to supplement coverage and capacity at events, concerts, and festivals largely unnecessary,” Schulz explained.
“We will continue to evaluate the situation as we receive new information/updates and will determine the necessity for increased capacity at that time using our proven process which allows our network teams to validate our network in the area prior to the event and monitor our network during the event for any capacity issues.”
