    United States Geological Survey registered 2.7 magnitude earthquake east of Shoshoni Monday night

    According to the United State Geological Survey’s website, Fremont County residents may have felt a small earthquake late Monday night.

    The quake registered at 2.7 on the Richter scale. Earthquakes at this magnitude are typically described as minor.

    The epicenter was at 43.167°N 107.825°W, which is between Shoshoni and Moneta, just south of Highway 26. (The area is highlighted on the above photo by the red marker.)

    It registered at 11:24 p.m. Monday night. So far, we have not heard reports of damage.
