    Two Wyoming residents die in September 8 motorcycle collision

    (Sweetwater County, WY) – A collision on US-191/Lower Sage Creek Road involving a motorcycle with two occupants and a van, left two dead and one injured on Wednesday, September 8th, around 10:30 AM, according to a Wyoming Highway Patrol (WHP) preliminary report.

    The deceased have been identified as Wyoming residents Steven Powell, 68, and Emma Powell, 73, the driver and the passenger of the motorcycle. Both were wearing helmets.

    The report states that driver of the van was northbound on US-191 South, when he crossed the centerline of the roadway into the southbound lane of travel.

    The van then collided with the motorcycle, which was in its proper lane.

    Both occupants of the motorcycle were pronounced deceased at the scene.

    “Speed, driver inattention, and driver fatigue/asleep,” are listed as possible contributing factors.

    There have been 83 fatalities on Wyoming’s roadways in 2021, compared to 88 in 2020, 111 in 2019, and 76 in 2018 to date.
