Two more chances to stock up on fresh, local goods – Visit the Wednesday Market tonight!

A big thank you to our sponsor Wyoming Community Bank for bringing you this content.

The outdoor market season is winding down for this year! Next week marks the last Wednesday Market at City Park in Riverton for 2020. It’s a great time to continue stocking up on canned and frozen foodstuffs, and long-lasting products like onions, garlic, potatoes, and winter squash. Cabbage, carrots, and beets will last for weeks in your refrigerator and those last cucumbers, peppers, and ripe tomatoes will hold a surprisingly long time. Try wrapping the cucumbers in clear storage wrap to prolong freshness; just turning tomatoes will continue to ripen in the house also.

And of course, many local producers offer home-canned foods like jam, jelly, salsa, and pickles for your winter meals.

Dairy and many baked goods will be available throughout the coming months at the Winter Farmers Market, which operates at the Fair Grounds, starting the first Saturday in October. Check them out for fresh eggs, honey, smoked cheeses, and more.

This summer has seen a dramatic expansion of local food production and consumption. What a glorious win-win situation! More of your food dollars stay in our local economy, supporting many other businesses, plus you’re feeding your family the healthiest food possible!

Remember: Wednesday Market at City Park in Riverton, this Wednesday and next, 5-7 pm. See you there!
