“First off I’d like to tell you both how very proud we are of you as a board and as your superintendent. Your path has maybe not been the traditional path to a diploma, but that doesn’t matter. It doesn’t matter before and it won’t matter in the future. What matters is that you found a path and you chose to take it. For those of you that have been here to other graduations, you will have heard me say this. The graduates always thank us for having the program and having Frontier. We are so happy to be able to offer that to you. But what mattered is that you took the opportunity and don’t ever forget that. You will have choices as you move forward. And now you know if you choose and you commit, you can do whatever you want to do. You just learned that. So the cognitive pieces – the content that you learned, the English you had to read and the essays you had to write. That’s all good and well. But what’s more important is the personal skills you learned along the way. Those will serve you. As I listened to you talk and as I listened to Mrs. Ibach talk, I picked up words like committed and passionate and service and thoughtful and outspoken and caring, and leadership. And those are the pieces that you will carry with you long after graduation. That will make a difference in your lives and the lives of others. So congratulations. We’re proud of you.”
